The airflow for the mechanical ventilation system is through the pitched roof. The ducts used for this purpose are roof caps made of a rectangular, rainproof plastic cap with bird mesh in the openings. The cap is permanently mounted on a cylindrical plastic duct, which is fitted with a lead flashing for installation between the roof covering and to form a watertight connection to the roof. The roof caps are available in red (RAL 3009) or anthracite gray (RAL 7016), depending on the roof covering, and can be used for both air supply and air exhaust.
